Math Strategies that Motivate and Engage Students

A variety of strategies and tools will be demonstrated and shared with paraprofessionals to help them understand how different students acquire math knowledge. By incorporating motivating ac-tivities in instruction, students will become more engaged with learning. This will resulting students who will not only perform better in math, but enjoy the process!

Reading Strategies that Motivate and Engage Students

Paraprofessionals attending this session will also come to understand the basics of motivational techniques. These techniques will provide students with a desire to improve his/her reading ability. This is a must attend session for all para-professionals, whether general education, Title I, or special education, who support students in reading. Those in attendance will also learn some basic information about supporting at-risk students as well as techniques for working with all students, while supporting teacher instruction, in inclusive classrooms.

Please note: You can take more than one class in any designated curriculum area. As an example, if you have already taken a "Behavior Management" class but want to take a different workshop also listed under "Behavior Management" you can do that. The first class will satisfy your Core requirement, and the second will be credited in the Elective area.
